Q: Why was I told to call TEAM?
A: Formal referrals are made to TEAM when an employer/referent is concerned about an employee’s well-being and has reason to believe that their work performance is or will be affected as a result.
Q: Why do I need to provide TEAM with collateral contacts?
A: Family and/or friends, which we refer to as collateral contacts, may offer valuable input to a TEAM Clinician when deciding recommendations.
Q: What is the process/steps for formals?
A: After TEAM receives a referral, an appointment with one of our TEAM Clinicians is scheduled. You may give us a call to schedule the appointment or TEAM staff will reach out to you. During the initial appointment, you and our Clinician will talk about what has been going on for you in the work place and an evaluation will be completed. Collateral information will be gathered and recommendations will be provided. Your employer/referent will be notified that you are working with us as a result of their referral and will receive updates intermittently that simply reflect your continued participation and completion of recommendations.
Q: How long does the formal process take?
A: The length of time that a formal referral is open with TEAM varies and is based on many factors including how quickly we receive referral and collateral information, intake paperwork, including consent forms, appointment scheduling, and completion of the individualized recommendations provided.
Q: Will I get my job back and/or be able to return to work if I complete TEAM’s suggestions?
A: TEAM provides updates to employers/referents regarding an employee’s completion of TEAM’s recommendations. Employers/referents often take this information into account when determining if someone is able to maintain employment or return to work.
Q: Who is paying for this?
A: TEAM services are part of the health benefit provided by your union or employer. There is no cost to you.
Q: Why can’t I schedule an appointment for my adult loved one without their consent?
A: TEAM is bound by HIPAA privacy laws that regulate the protection and sharing of personally identifying information and health records. A signed consent is necessary for TEAM to coordinate with a client’s family and friends.
Q: How many sessions will I receive? How long are sessions?
A: Up to 6 counseling sessions are provided if working directly with one of TEAM’s clinical staff via telehealth or in person. Sessions are generally 45 to 60 minutes long.
Q: What can I expect during my 1st session?
A: You will be asked to complete some questionnaires and will have time with an EAP Clinician to discuss areas in your life that are of concern. Based on this initial visit, the Clinician will create a plan with you to either continue with TEAM for follow-up sessions, or to establish services with a provider in your community.
Q: What do TEAM’s legal services entail?
A: As part of your services through TEAM, you are able to receive a free 30 minute legal consultation and, if you choose to move forward with the attorney, the rate for services is discounted.
